Estate Management Newcastle
Estate Management
The loss of a loved one can be a very emotional and distressing time; this time can be made even more difficult, if you are faced with sorting out the deceased’s financial and personal affairs.
Dealing with the affairs of a deceased person is often more complicated and time consuming than people expect, and if dealt with incorrectly the personal representatives may leave themselves vulnerable to claims against the estate and even personal financial liability.
At 22 Law , we are experienced in dealing with all manner of estate management, large or small, and can help you with complications such as:
- the terms of a will are uncertain or not clear;
- the will dictates that part of the estate is to pass to children under the age of 18;
- the deceased owned a business;
- the deceased has left money or property in a trust;
- the deceased owned land or property abroad;
- the terms of will are being disputed, or will likely be.

Probate Costs
Applying for the grant, collecting and distributing the assets
We charge a percentage uplift on the gross estate of 2-3%+VAT, to be agreed at the outset.
This charge is intended to reflect the value of the Estate, the complexity issues, the speed at which action has to be taken, any particular expertise which may be needed, the responsibility accepted by the firm in undertaking the administration.
We will handle the full process for you.
This quote is for estates where:
- There is a valid Will
- There is no more than one property
- There are no more than 5 bank or building society accounts
- There are no other intangible assets
- There are 1 – 5 beneficiaries
- There are no disputes between beneficiaries on division of assets. If disputes arise this is likely to lead to an increase in costs
- There is no inheritance tax payable and the executors do not need to submit a full account to HMRC
- There are no claims made against the estate
- All assets, beneficiaries and executors are in the UK
Disbursements which may be payable in addition to the above fee:
- Probate application fee of £155.00
- £7.00+VAT Swearing of the oath (per executor)
- Bankruptcy only Land Charges Department searches (£2+VAT per Beneficiary/Executor/Legatee)
- £83.40+VAT Post in The London Gazette – Protects against unexpected claims from unknown creditors.
- £117.70+VAT Post in a Local Newspaper – This also helps to protect against unexpected claims.
Disbursements are costs related to your matter that are payable to third parties, such as court fees. We handle the payment of the disbursements on your behalf to ensure a smoother process.
“I have used 22 Law twice now and would not use anyone else. I felt at ease with the staff. Andrew Daverson whom dealt with my conveyancing was efficient and never cut corners. I feel this is a very trustworthy company and I would highly recommend them.” Highly recommended!
Carol Moffitt
After deciding to move last year Claire and Callum worked on the sale of my old house and purchase of my new property. They provided excellent support and guidance throughout. I would have no hesitation recommending 22 Law .
